CAO Report, December 1, 2009 Date: (Tuesday, December 1, 2009) Public Works Position
The Village is pleased to welcome our new Public Works Labourer, Jacob Tricker, to the permanent staff team. We will be looking for potential candidates to fill a casual/relief labour role for the Public Works department in the future.
Off-site Levies
Village Council and administration held their third off-site levies workshop on November 26, 2009. Off site levies help address how increasing demands on existing infrastructure, and demands for expanded infrastructure, may be dealt with. Public input will be sought in the new year, as we move through this planning process.
Animal Licenses
Don’t forget to pick up your animal licenses. Animal licenses will be on sale, effective December 1, 2009. Licenses for altered dogs cost $20, unaltered dogs cost $30 and cats cost $5. After February 1, the prices double to $40 for altered dogs and $60 for unaltered dogs. Fines for failing to license your animals can range from $75 to $300.
Edna Topp Park
We have completed installation of lights and basketball hoops around the outdoor skating rink at Edna Topp Park. Installation of the basketball hoops had been postponed, at the recommendation of the contractor, until the rink resurfacing project was completed. The lights themselves still need to be hooked into the municipal electrical grid, which should be completed shortly.
Strategic Planning
Council held their annual strategic planning session this month, to discuss their overall vision, priorities and goals for the Village in 2010 and beyond. The Village’s strategic plan will be used in the development of future budgets and decision items at Council meetings.
Merry Christmas
The Village of Caroline is hosting our annual Christmas party on December 12, 2009. This is an opportunity for Village administration and elected officials to thank our partners and volunteers, as well as celebrate the Christmas season.
