CAO Report, March 16, 2010 Date: (Tuesday, March 16, 2010) Council Meetings
The Village of Caroline’s regular Council Meetings are held the on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 2:00 pm, in the Village Council chambers. Any interested members of the public who are welcome to come and view the proceedings.
Development
A development permit was approved by the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC), for residential development - an existing home being moved onto a vacant lot.
Edna Topp Park
Light timers are being added to the Edna Topp Park at the skating rink, so the lights are automatically shut off after 10:00pm. They may also be programmed to operate by button, so they do not come on unless the skating rink is in use.
Garbage Pick Up
Staff have noted garbage bylaw violations seem to be increasing, including improper containers and over bags limits. Staff will be noting all violating addresses, and letters will be sent out to residents detailing their violation and asking for a remedy within a 30 day time period. Once this time period expires, should the violation continue, garbage will be pink tagged and not picked up.
Garbage collections times: 7:30am – Noon on Wednesdays. Please have all garbage out prior to this time; otherwise it may not be collected. Reminder there is a 5 bag limit and all household garbage must be bagged in full size green or black garbage bags and contained in a weather proof and animal proof containers.
Off-site Levies Final Workshop
Staff and Council attended the final Off-site Levies workshop on March 11, 2010, and a final draft of the Off-site Levies bylaw is expected to be presented to Council at the XYZ meeting in April.
RV Park Attendant
Staff received several applications for the RV Park Attendant position, and will be interviewing candidates in the coming weeks, and awarding the position on April 1st, 2010. The RV Park will re-open for the summer on May 15th, 2010.
Village Office Hours
The Village of Caroline Administration Office is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am -12:30pm and 1:30pm – 4:30pm.
Water Metering
Staff met with the fourth and final metering representative to discuss metering options and budget. Staff will select a meter company and installation contractor in the coming weeks. From there, Staff will be contacting all Village residents to book a date for their meter installations. Residential water meters are scheduled for implementation/installation in 2010 as part of the Village of Caroline’s capital plan.
