Assessment Review Board
Our Assessment Review Board Clerk will be taking a two-day Administrative Law course in April, to become qualified to serve the Regional Assessment Review Board.
 
Community Events Committee
The community events committee will meet regularly at the arena at 10:30am on the second Thursday of every month. Upcoming events:
  • School’s Out, Summer Fun Weekend, June 25-27, 2010 which will feature a mixed slow pitch tournament (403-396-2471 for ball tournament information), farmer’s market, kid’s zone, tailgate garage sale, home run competition and kids and seniors t-ball games.
  • Caroline Heritage Days, September 10-12, 2010 which will feature a pancake breakfast, entertainment, fall fair, farmer’s market, lawnmower races, pet parade, kid’s zone and drive inn theatre.

Council Meetings
The Village of Caroline’s regular Council Meetings are held the on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 2:00 pm, in the Village Council chambers. Any interested members of the public who are welcome to come and view the proceedings.
 
Edna Topp Park
Light timers have been added to the outdoor rink light posts at Edna Topp Park and lights will now automatically shut off after 10:00pm. The addition of benches, picnic tables, garbage cans and landscaping will occur this Spring. This park project was funded by the 2008 Municipal Sponsorship Program (MSP) grant, and staff recently applied for an extension to use remaining funds in 2010.
 
Garbage
Staff have recorded garbage bylaw violations, and letters have been sent out to residents detailing their violation, asking for a remedy within a 30 day time period. Garbage Collection times: 7:30am – Noon on Wednesdays. Reminder there is a 5 bag limit and all household garbage must be bagged in full size green or black garbage bags and contained in a weather proof and animal proof containers.
 
Special Garbage Collection will be taking place on April 13th, 2010. Special Garbage pick-up of items such as: furniture, household appliances (no fridges), building refuse, dry rubble, brush/tree limbs (to be bundled or tied), metal barrels, etc. that cannot be picked up on regular collection day. This service is free of charge and arrangements must be made through the Village Office by contacting 722-3781.
 
RV Park
The Caroline Municipal RV Park will re-open for the summer, on May 15th, 2010.
 
Village Office Hours
The Village of Caroline Administration Office is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am -12:30pm and 1:30pm – 4:30pm.
 
Unsightly Premises
Along with developing a new draft of the Unsightly Premises By-law #513 for Council, Staff have sent notices to some violating the unsightly premises bylaw through the issuance of a Clean-up Order. If the land owner does not respond to the Clean-up Order within the time specified on that Order, the Village may enter onto the property and conduct the clean up, at the land owner’s expense.
 
By-law #513 defines “Unsightly Premises” as any property or part of it which is characterized by visual evidence of a lack of general maintenance and upkeep by the excessive accumulation on the premises of any items such as rubbish, soil, equipment, inoperative motor vehicles, animal material and building material. Water Metering
Staff are waiting on a revised proposal from one meter distributor, and once all quotes are acquired and reviewed, options will be presented to Council. Following, Staff will be contacting all Village residents to book a date for their meter installations. Residential water meters are scheduled for implementation/installation in 2010 as part of the Village of Caroline’s capital plan.
