The Village of Caroline is currently seeking interested applicants to fill our vacant Municipal Clerk position. This is a permanent position, Tuesdays to Fridays, 28 hours per week. The successful candidate will possess excellent public relations and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative small office environment. Primary responsibilities include reception, receivables, bank deposits, payables, utility billings, business and animal licensing, information and general office management. Preferred skills include computer literacy, the ability to take minutes, database management. Community Events Committee
The community events committee will meet regularly at the arena at 10:30am on the second Thursday of every month. The Caroline Safe Kids Bicycle Rodeo was held on June 5.

Council Meetings
The Village of Caroline’s regular Council Meetings are held the on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 2:00 pm, in the Village Council chambers. Any interested members of the public who are welcome to come and view the proceedings. In July and August, Council meetings will only be held on the third Tuesday of those months.
Edna Topp Park
The park landscaping project is taking shape. Coming weeks will see the addition of lighting and a picnic area. This park project was funded by the 2008 Municipal Sponsorship Program (MSP) grant and will be completed this season.
Municipal Election
The 2010 Municipal election will be held in the Village in October, nomination day is scheduled for September 20. The Government of Alberta is hosting a free education session for prospective Councillors on August 31, 2010 in Red Deer. Municipal Affairs Safety Code Review
Alberta Municipal Affairs staff will be on site in July to conduct a review of the Village’s permits for the past year. Municipal Affairs conducts these external audits in all municipalities on a three year rotation, staff conduct internal reviews during the other two years. The Municipal Affairs auditor has been a great help, in past years, training staff to complete internal reviews.
Caroline Promotional Video
The Village, as a member of the Central Alberta Economic Partnership, recently received our promotional video that was contracted this past year. For the time being, this video can be viewed on-line at http://www.centralalberta.ab.ca/caep_tv.html
Village Office Hours
The Village of Caroline Administration Office is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am -12:30pm and 1:30pm – 4:30pm.
Water Metering
Water meter installation began on May 31. Crews have been working in the Village daily from May 31 to June 9, and will be continuing from June 14 to completion. In addition to sending letters to residents, with information around the installation and booking process, staff have been contacting residents to arrange appointments. If you have not yet set up an appointment to get your water meter, please call the Village office (403-722-3781) to schedule your water meter installation. Residents will continue to be charged the current flat rate for water for three months after water meters have been installed, in order to allow Council to collect some water consumption data prior to determining what rates will be levied for usage.
Crime Prevention Meeting
The Citizens & Police Action Committee are sponsoring a meeting at the Caroline Complex on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 7:30 PM.
Provincial Election
Elections Alberta is seeking interested candidates to serve as Returning Officers and Election Clerks for the next Provincial Election. Any interested parties can get more information at www.elections.ab.ca between May 25 and June 14, 2010.
